# Installation & Setup

> Install the Zero Runtime CLI with pip and sign in to your account.

The `zeroruntime` CLI ships in the `zeroruntime` Python package. It runs agents locally,
deploys them, and manages them in production.

## Install the CLI

```bash theme={null}
pip install zeroruntime
```

<Note>
  Requires **Python 3.11 or newer**. If `pip` maps to Python 2 on your system, use
  `pip3 install zeroruntime`. To keep it isolated, install it inside a virtual environment.
</Note>

Verify the install:

```bash theme={null}
zeroruntime --version
```

You should see the installed version, for example `Zero Runtime CLI, version 0.0.8`.

## Sign in

Connect the CLI to your Zero Runtime account. This opens your browser to confirm the login,
then stores your token on this machine. You only need to do this once per machine.

```bash theme={null}
zeroruntime auth login
```

```text Expected output theme={null}
```

<Tip>
  If the link expires or the browser doesn't open, run `zeroruntime auth login` again, or copy
  the printed URL into a browser manually.
</Tip>

To disconnect the CLI from your account on this machine, run `zeroruntime auth logout`.
