# Zero Runtime

> Low latency, reliable, observable real-time AI agents for voice and physical AI.

Zero Runtime is for building real-time AI agents. There are two kinds. Pick the
one you are here for.

## Voice AI

Agents that talk with people on your website, in your app, or over a phone
call. Speech in, speech out, fast enough to hold a conversation. Build them in
code or from the dashboard.

> **[Runtime SDK](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/runtime-sdk/introduction.md)**
>
> Write your agent in Python. Full control over the pipeline, tools, and
> deployment.
>
> **[Start here](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/runtime-sdk/introduction.md)**

> **[Agent Builder](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/agent-builder/introduction.md)**
>
> Build, test, and deploy voice agents from the dashboard. Write the prompt,
> pick the models, and ship without writing code.
>
> **[Start here](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/agent-builder/introduction.md)**

## Physical AI

> **[Teleoperation and robotics](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/overview.md)**
>
> Robots that a person or a model drives over the internet. Actions and
> camera frames, checked against your safety limits and recorded.
>
> **[Start here](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/overview.md)**

Both are built for the same three things: low latency, high reliability, and
observability you can act on.

In a hurry? Go straight to the [voice agent](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/quickstart.md) or
[teleoperation](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/quickstarts/teleoperation.md) quickstart.

## Why Zero Runtime

> **Real code, not a dashboard**
>
> Ordinary Python, running in your process with your own libraries and data.

> **Your providers, your hardware**
>
> Swap any speech-to-text, LLM or voice in a line. Connect any robot.

> **A worker, not a cluster**
>
> You deploy one worker. Nothing else is yours to run.

[Why Zero Runtime](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/runtime-sdk/why-zero-runtime.md) compares it with frameworks and no-code
platforms.

## Voice AI use cases

> **[Customer support](https://github.com/ZeroRuntimeAI/zeroruntime-python-examples/blob/main/tools/human_in_the_loop/customer_agent.py)**
>
> A support agent that hands off to a person over MCP instead of guessing.

> **[Appointment scheduling](https://github.com/ZeroRuntimeAI/zeroruntime-python-examples/blob/main/tools/n8n_workflow/appointment_telephony.py)**
>
> A phone agent that books slots. Its tools are an n8n workflow reached over
> MCP.

> **[Live translation](https://github.com/ZeroRuntimeAI/zeroruntime-python-examples/blob/main/context/translator_agent.py)**
>
> Detects the caller's language on every turn and rebuilds the pipeline to
> answer in it.

> **[Multilingual support](https://github.com/ZeroRuntimeAI/zeroruntime-python-examples/blob/main/context/demo_multilang.py)**
>
> Detects the user's language and answers in the one they prefer.

Voice agents reach people on web, mobile and
[telephony](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/telephony/introduction.md), including WhatsApp.

## Physical AI use cases

> **[Remote teleoperation](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/overview.md)**
>
> Drive a robot from another room or another country, inside the safety
> limits you set.

> **[Data collection](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/concepts/recording.md)**
>
> Record a person driving, then export a LeRobot dataset. Each action is
> paired with the camera frame that caused it.

> **[Simulation and policy](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/guides/running-a-policy.md)**
>
> Neither side has to be real hardware. Drive a simulated robot, or let a
> model send the movements.

> **[Supervised autonomy](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/concepts/safety.md)**
>
> Let a model drive, and have a person take over whenever they need to.

Robots connect through [LeRobot](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/integrations/lerobot.md),
[ROS 2](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/integrations/ros2.md) or
[an adapter you write](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/integrations/custom.md). See
[Platforms](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/robotics/supported-platforms.md) for tested hosts and hardware.

## Start with AI

Connect your coding agent to the [MCP server and Agent Skill](https://docs.zeroruntime.ai/runtime-sdk/mcp-and-skills.md),
then describe the agent you want. It searches these docs as it works, so it uses
real method names instead of guessing them.
